We
just had to brag a little because we couldn't be more pleased.
We've been hearing from customers for the last year or so that Doc
Watson has been out there playing a Bourgeois guitar.
Last week we saw it for ourselves when someone in the shop saw Doc
on YouTube.

Thanks to Dan Miller of "Flatpick" magazine for
this picture

Here's
the story of how Doc Watson came to be playing our guitar. A
couple of years ago, Ricky Skaggs called and asked if we could build
Doc a guitar for his 80th birthday. Ricky wanted us to
build a dreadnought with Dana's cutaway, just like the cutaway on
Sean Watkin's (Nickel Creek) OM. We were happy to oblige.
We sent Doc a Custom Vintage D Cutaway with a 1 3/4
" neck, trimmed to the old "Ricky Skaggs Model"
specs: It has an Adirondack top and Indian Rosewood back &
sides, Abalone rosette and Ivoroid binding on the headstock,
fingerboard and body.
Here's
the YouTube video. It's worth watching so you can see our
guitar, but mostly because Doc is singing and playing great.

"Sixteen Tons" followed by a rousing rendition
of "Shady Grove".
