We have built this guitar in many different configurations: Adirondack top, Bearclaw Sitka, Mahogany, Indian Rosewood, Madagascar and a beautiful little Brazilian. We have made it with DB Signature specs and we have made it in a Sunburst. All great choices. For the standard model, we have decided on this classic understated vibe.

The received the Vintage SJ from Jerry on Saturday and just wanted to let you know how happy I am with it. It is everything I had hoped it would be and compliments the Mahogany SJ beautifully. I had a few people question whether it was wise to buy another SJ and have two guitars that were basically the same with the only variant being the rosewood instead of mahogany. But that was exactly why I wanted to do it and am very glad I did it.

It has all the qualities I love about the Mahogany SJ, including the ease and comfort of play, along with an unmatched depth on tone but with the lush overtones and other tonal nuances of Rosewood, instead of the dryer woody tone of mahogany. I have always thought my Mahogany SJ was everything a good mahogany guitar should be, and the same can be said with the Rosewood model.

By the way you were absolutely right about the DB signature package on the SJ, it looks great and I am very glad I went ahead with it. Now all I need is a Maple SJ to go with the mahogany and rosewood. .....maybe next year if Dana is offer it?
