DB Signature Dreadnought

(photo shows optional Maple body binding.  In April 2009 the body binding was changed to Curly Koa.)

This year Dana decided to build a new guitar for himself.  In the process, he designed a new rosette and herringbone purfling to compliment  his earlier design of the Dana Bourgeois backstrip.  He also decided to pick his top and back woods primarily for tone.  The Adirondack and Madagascar Rosewood he chose for his DB Signature Woods are not the most pristine examples of those species.  But we can guarantee that they are some of the best sounding.

Here's what Dana says about Madagascar :  "Madagascar rosewood will probably get you closest to the sound of Brazilian, and at a much lower price. Madagascar has much of the same rich overtone range as Brazilian, as well as a slightly "reverby" quality. It's a little heavier than Brazilian, so I have to be careful about selecting the right top and the right neck in order to keep the weight down and not adversly effect its response characteristics. "  Since Dana himself still picks every top, back and side for each guitar we build, this isn't a problem for us.

This guitar features  "Signature" Adirondack and "Signature" Madagascar RW.   The traditional  Squares & Diamonds inlay are made unique by cutting them from Certified Fossil Ivory. With finely flamed Curly Koa body binding, Gold Waverly tuners, Bone pins and a premium pickguard you will be hard pressed to find more value and beauty in a single guitar.

I want to include our first testimonial regarding this guitar.  I think our customer says it best:

" I  just purchased a Signature D from David Wren at The Twelfth Fret in Toronto.  What a wonderful guitar.  My decision to buy was instant. This guitar is unlike any that I have played from Pantheon.  It has an edgier attack than I expect from Bourgeois and the Adirondack top is uncommonly responsive to a light touch.  Already, it sounds as open and lively as I like.  To my ears, the balance of fundamentals and overtones from this guitar is near perfect and it has the clearest bottom end of any dreadnought I have played. The visual aesthetic of this instrument is also outstanding with its flamed maple binding and Dana’s custom herringbone purfling. I particularly like the ivory inlays – that is a very nice touch.  The spider-webbing of the quartered Madagascar back and sides used on this guitar is as nice as any I have seen in this species.

The Signature D can dominate the gap between East Indian Rosewood and Brazilian, and in my house I expect it will get played more than either. Good luck trying to keep up with the demand. "
