The combination of a silky German Spruce top, a light, responsive, European maple back and stiff neck results in a rich, complex and airy voice that is as satisfying to flatpick as to play with the fingers. This little guitar has a full bottom end, the “singing” upper register characteristic of European tops, great sustain and impeccable balance. And yeah, it’s pretty darn loud for its size. I’ve always loved maple guitars. In spite of maple’s reputation for being too “bright” or having too much top end, I (along with Antonio Stradivari and Jimmy D’Aquisto) have always had great luck with the combination of European spruce and European maple .

As with all Luthiers’ Choice guitars, I personally selected each piece of wood used in this guitar and personally executed all three stages of voicing. I had high hopes for this little gem and it exceeded my expectations. This is the perfect guitar, folks, for practicing all your Michael Hedges moves, and the perfect accompaniment for singing “Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and “Stairway To Heaven” . . . in the privacy, of course, of one’s own living room. "
